Sonmarg

Sonmarg literally means meadow of gold. It is located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Thajiwas glacier
Thajiwas glacier sits 9,186 feet high and bestows seamless serenity. It is blessed with emerald meadows and a clear azure sky. Summer months here treat you with beautiful views of waterfalls whereas during winters these waterfalls freeze.

Nilagrad River
Nilagrad River is an ideal spot to enjoy a day picnic under the jovial sun along a riverside. It is 6 km from Sonmarg. It is known for its red water having medicinal properties. People visit here on every weekend to take the holy bath.

Zoji La Pass
Zoji La Pass is 9 km from Sonmarg and connects Kashmir with Ladakh. The pass been beautified with thick layers of snow. During a war, this Pass was captured by Pakistan; however, later Indian forces re-captured it. Thus, it is known for being the highest place where tanks were used.

Gadsar Lake
Gadsar Lake is a place where you can meditate at a height of 16,400 feet. The lake remains frozen for all twelve months. Visit here and enjoy vistas of alpine flowers and bird's-eye views of the frozen Satsar and Baltan Lakes.

Baltal
Baltal near Sonmarg remains a famous place to enjoy camping. The place is also known among the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra which is visited by over 40,000 devotees to worship Lord Shiva. The trek is extremely difficult and one needs to be physically fit to reach here.

Gangabal Lake
Gangabal Lake is a calm water body in the foothills of the Harmukh Mountain. Situated at a height of about 3600 metres, the lake stretches to 2.5 km. The lake is fed by water from rain, springs and melting glaciers. Here many freshwater fish dwell.
