Cochin

This city, also called Kochi, is located in the district of Ernakulam, roughly 220 km north of the Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital of Kerala. It is one of the leading seaports of India and the second largest city in Kerala after Thiruvananthapuram.

Cochin was proclaimed as the Queen of the Arabian Sea and one of the finest natural harbours in the world. It was (and still is) a significant spice trading centre on the Arabian Sea since the 14th century. The present map of Cochin comprises of the mainland Ernakulam (old Kochi), the peripheries of Edapally, Kalamassery and Kakkanad to the northeast; Tripunithura to the southeast and a group of mini closely spread out islands in the Vembanad Lake.

Paradesi Synagogue
Located in Kochi, it is oldest active synagogue in India of the Commonwealth Nations. It was constructed in1568 and the lane at which it is built is called as Jewish Street. The Malabari Jews mainly consist of the Jewish community in Kochi.

Saint Francis Church
Constructed in 1503, it is the oldest European style church in India. It has played the role of a mute witness while experiencing the European invasions in the country. Originally, the body of Portuguese sailor Vasco da gama was buried here for 14 years.

It is one of the most popular amusement parks in Kerala. It was the first water theme park in India. Some of its famous rides are water rides, bump cars, musical fountain, dancing cars and other adrenaline pumping rides.
