Bandhavgarh National Park

The Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the best places to sight tigers. The Park is of mythological and legendary significance. The Tiger sighting experience of Bandhavgarh National Park is so great that one ends up revisiting this place again and again. It is usually said that if luck favours, one can sight a tiger, but in case of Bandhavgarh it is said that one has to be unlucky not to sight more than one tiger.

Attractions

The Park offers open jeep safari which is the best way to explore the wildlife habitat. Jeep Safari here runs in two shifts with duration of 4 hours. While one shift operates in the morning, the other operates at around 2-3pm.

India's top dwelling for tigers, Bandhavgarh National Park has the highest density of Royal Bengal tigers in the world. The sight of the majestic tiger, up close and personal, is said to trigger a sense of awe in you, of the kinds you would have only experienced in your childhood.

The Bandhavgarh National Park attract huge gathering of visitors who come here to enhance the wildlife experience. To augment the sightseeing experience of the visitors, the Park has a number of accommodations. While some are luxury accommodations and some are budget hotels, there are a few that have this quite obvious jungle theme.

If you thought Bandhavgarh is only limited to wildlife reserve than you might need to re-think. The place offers an opportunity for shopping as well. There are a number of shops lined outside the park from where you can get small stuff/souvenirs like; t-shirts, wildlife books, and more. You can also purchase pictures of the tigers taken inside the park.

Bandhavgarh also offers a perfect opportunity to trek from the Tala Zone of Bandhavgarh National Park to Bandhavgarh Fort. Bandhavgarh Fort is one of the oldest forts in India. The fort has several caves adorned with painting and scripts. A trek to this fort is not only exhilarating but is a source to get plenty of insights about the region and its history.

How to reach
By Air - Khajuraho and Jabalpur are the nearest airports.

By Train - Kalinga Utkal Express (Train No 18478 Dn) leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin at 1205 hrs and reaches Umaria next day at 0526 hrs. From here it is a 30-40 minute drive to Bandhavgarh.

By Road - It is approx 6 hrs drive from Khajuraho (280 kms), between 3 and 4 hours from Jabalpur (170 kms), 7 hrs from Kanha (240 kms), Katni 2.5 hrs drive (95 kms), Satna 3.5 hrs drive (112 kms).
